Librarians rule!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Worcester librarians are making sure library records are disposed of quickly, in opposition to the so-called Patriot Act which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fepproject.org\/commentaries\/patriotact.html\">allows law enforcement agencies to get search warrants for medical, educational, library, and bookstore records by claiming the records may be related to a terrorism investigation<\/a>. Not proof, not reasonable suspicion, just the claim is good enough.<\/p>\n<p>It also includes a gag order, so anybody served in this way isn&#8217;t allowed to talk about it!<\/p>\n<p>The Patriot II Act will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/news\/politics\/0,1283,57636,00.html\">do away with even the need for a court order.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/Template.cfm?Section=IF_Resolutions&#038;Template=\/ContentManagement\/ContentDisplay.cfm&#038;ContentID=11891\">American Library Association&#8217;s response to the Patriot Act.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Patriot Act is <a href=\"http:\/\/story.news.yahoo.com\/news?tmpl=story&#038;cid=514&#038;e=8&#038;u=\/ap\/20030914\/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe\/anti_terror_laws_2\">already being used against non-terrorist criminals<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Worcester librarians are making sure library records are disposed of quickly, in opposition to the so-called Patriot Act which allows law enforcement agencies to get search warrants for medical, educational, library, and bookstore records by claiming the records may be related to a terrorism investigation.
